Save Money on Gas

There is no doubt that in today’s society that we need our cars. We use them to drive to work, transport the shopping home, and taxi the kids around. But with fuel prices at an all time high and the cost it has on our precious environment it makes sense that we should make an effort to save money on gas.
Until the day comes when we fuel our cars with a low cost, clean and reliable energy source we are stuck with using gasoline or diesel fuel. There are some great technologies for our cars using electricity and hydrogen that we may see in the future, but for now our best option is to change the way we drive.
This will not only help save money on gas, but it will also be better for the environment – so it’s a win win situation.
The first tip is to stop driving so much. I know what you are thinking, and in some parts of the country you may not have any choice, but it’s crazy how little a distance some people will drive. I once had a dinner party at my house and my neighbor who lived three houses down the road drove to my house – I’m not kidding!
Consider getting a bicycle and use it for short distances. It’s a really pleasant way to visit friends or go to work and you’ll be getting good exercise and probably lose some pounds in the process.
And since we are talking saving money – you could save up to $100 a week on your fuel costs depending on how much you regularly drive. Not bad.
If you must use your car then practice being a smooth driver. You don’t need to stop and start so abruptly and doing so burns more gas so brake gently and accelerate gently and you’ll find that you’ll save money on gas – often around $20 a week.
Many people think that this will slow down their trip, but actually you’ll probably not notice much of a difference in time and as an added benefit you’ll find you are a much calmer driver because your driving actions are gentler.
Are you an organized person? Because if you are you can make a plan to do all your driving trips in the one go. If you need to go to the post office, see if there are any other trips that you need to do that week like pick up the dry cleaning or other errands. By doing them in the one go you’ll be saving yourself not only time but also money.
This also works if you are organized and make a grocery list of everything you need and only shop once per week (instead of making multiple trips to the store). You’ll save quite a lot of money on gas this way. Often saving up to $30 a week off your fuel costs which really adds up over the course a year.

…I used to clothesline dry clothes..but lugging 3 baskets up 15 stairs, and then scraping to get outside thru doors…there is too much chance of falling with a bulky laundry basket, or ripping the doors off the hinges with a basket…..for many, with this situation, this outdoor drying is not safe nor practical…..
